In Solidarity

Women and Youth Supporting Each Other (WYSE) stands in solidarity with Black communities and the Black Lives Matter movement. As an organization that strives to empower younger generations to create change, we wholeheartedly support and join those who are courageously taking a stand for justice across the US and the world. Let there be no ambiguity: Black Lives Matter. We mourn the Black lives and Black futures stolen from Breonna Taylor, George Floyd, Tony McDade, and countless others over the years. Violence against Black individuals and the terrorization of Black communities by police are nothing new. These tragic murders are yet another reminder that white supremacy culture is alive and well. During this national moment of outrage, let us not forget the countless other quiet ways racism will continue to appear in our daily lives. We can not be passive. We will not be silent and we will not silence the voices that need to be heard. There is much work to be done and much work to be undone. We are proud of our branch leaders, alumni, and mentees as they lead by example in speaking out against racism. WYSE is committed to critical self-examination and practicing lifelong anti-racism at every level of our organization. We encourage every member of the WYSE family to join us as we continue to grow as allies and accomplices in this movement. We have included a compilation of resources below that can be shared to encourage individuals to take action, allow us to better educate ourselves and our networks, and support movements across the country.
