Finance Chair

National Board Position

Women and Youth Supporting Each Other (WYSE) is seeking an individual with experience in finance and accounting to monitor and oversee WYSE’s overall financial health.

 

The Finance Chair’s core duties include:

 

  • Development of the organization's budgeting and financial planning

  • Management of day-to-day accounting operations including recording all accounting entries and financial transaction and reconciliation of bank and credit card accounts

  • Processing of vendor payments, background check reimbursements, donation receipts, and other cash transactions

  • Preparation and distribution of timely, accurate, and user-friendly financial reports

  • Filing of key tax reporting requirements (IRS 990N) and other local and state regulatory reporting requirements

General Expectations of WYSE Board Members

  • Attend monthly board meetings (Typically 90 minutes in length via conference call)

  • Attend ad hoc conference calls on committee topics as needed

  • Attend the annual Board virtual retreat (Typically held via Google Hangout) in early Spring

  • Attend the annual National Leadership Training Conference in the summer

  • Contribute to Board dues ($300 per year)

Women and Youth Supporting Each Other (WYSE) is a national 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization whose mission is to empower young women with the resources and support necessary to make positive life choices and create community change. WYSE consists of student-led university branches across the country that provide weekly curriculum-based afterschool sessions, one-on-one mentoring, and special events to middle school girls in underserved communities. Founded in 1992, WYSE has since expanded to twelve student-led branches with central leadership provided by a National Board of Directors.
