2007-2008 Internships (Volunteer)

About Us
Women and Youth Supporting Each Other, or WYSE, is a national mentoring organization and project of Community Partners. Since our inception, WYSE has been dedicated to strengthening the lives of women and girls of color living in low-income communities through a curriculum based, group and one-on-one mentorship program that strives to address all the issues that can contribute to their disempowerment including racism, sexism, poverty, unintended pregnancy, violence and a lack of awareness of future options.

Internship Description
Grants:
  • Researching new foundations, corporations and government funding sources.
  • Researching new sources of in-kind and monetary support.
  • Writing grant reports and small grants proposals.

Administrative:
  • Managing financial transactions and development database.
  • Managing general administrative needs such as answering phones, filing, copying, correspondence.
  • Managing the flow of mail and faxes in and out of the office.

Program:
  • Assisting National Executive Director with various program-related projects.
  • Supporting WYSE Branches by facilitating communication by arranging site visits, creating newsletters and contacting Branch Directors.
  • Supporting WYSE Branches by researching and providing needed resource.
  • Coordinating special events and meetings including board meetings.
  • Attending community events such as forums, panel discussions, informational workshops.
  • Completing special projects as assigned by the Executive Director.

Start Date - ASAP
Commitment - 8 hours per week.

This internship is unpaid. Cost of parking is reimbursed.
